We met sisters Jenny and Shelley Mark from Top Notch Blankets at the 2015 Race for the Rescues. They generously sent us home with some spectacular blankets for Perry's Place cats and kittens, which we put to work at our very next adoption event.
At next weekend's gala, we will honor Amanda Seyfried, the wonderful actress, model, and singer, who uses her platform to champion animal rescue. Amanda is serving this year as spokesperson (along with her dog Finn) for Strut Your Mutt, the Best Friends nationwide dog walk and fundraising initiative.
We are so excited to thank 20th Century Fox TV Animation at the 2016 Heaven on Earth gala — The Perry MacFarlane Legacy. They are our partners during the holidays for Giving Tuesday, when we bring Perry’s Place cats to the office and receive Fox employees’ generosity in return. (They also happen to employ two of our favorite MacFarlanes, supporting Perry’s legacy in more ways than one!)
We are very proud to honor Karma Rescue at the 2016 Heaven on Earth gala — The Perry MacFarlane Legacy. Continuing the theme of our past two galas, this year’s hero among us will be the inaugural recipient of The Perry’s Passion Award, acknowledging Karma's unrelenting dedication to animals, canine and feline alike.
Early this year, the manager of the Van Nuys Petsmart reached out to Heaven on Earth seeking an adoption partner for the store. We welcomed the opportunity with open arms and set to work readying the shiny new store’s built-in adoption center for its first residents, who moved in four days before the store officially opened to the public February 29.
On the heels of last week's Christmas in July blog post, we decided to follow up on a few of our "reindeer kittens." Born last December, the sweet litter of mostly black cats were very popular in the early months of 2016.
Winnie came to Heaven on Earth following a Best Friends-sponsored shelter cats adoption event, The aCATemy Awards, in 2011. At 8 years old, black and in need of dental work, Winnie wiggled her way into the hearts of staff and volunteers.
Mike and Barbara met Heaven on Earth during an adoption event at PetSmart Tujunga. The couple had recently lost their beloved Z-Boy after 17 years. After a few months had passed, they decided it was time to save a life and welcome a young adult cat into their family.
Alexandra came to Perry’s Place knowing she wanted to adopt two young cats, possibly a bonded pair. But she couldn’t bear the thought of leaving one young cat home alone for long stretches of time when she set off to work, so two younger cats seemed to be perfect as they could keep each other company.
While not a kitten in age, sweet and handsome Art can be quite kitten-like when he is playing. His favorite toys are those dipped in catnip! He is sensitive and can be quite shy, but loves to be petted once he gets to know you. He is especially good at comforting his more timid roommates and shines when he has your full attention.
