We are proud to present an Alumni Tail written by the alumna herself! Thank you, Baby Ruth, for taking the time to share your story! Hi there, I’m Baby Ruth. If you’ve ever been to Perry’s Place, we may have met as I’ve been with the kind people of Heaven on Earth almost my entire life. My siblings and I came to the old sanctuary when I was very young, not even a year old. We were a rambunctious [...]
It was mid-February when we first laid eyes on the two-year-old gray cat. He was cowering in a cage in the observation room at East Valley Shelter, having arrived there in a trap several days earlier, too fractious even for a basic medical exam. Yet something in his eyes said he’d known people once upon a time. It also said an awful lot had happened to him since then.
Early this year, the manager of the Van Nuys Petsmart reached out to Heaven on Earth seeking an adoption partner for the store. We welcomed the opportunity with open arms and set to work readying the shiny new store’s built-in adoption center for its first residents, who moved in four days before the store officially opened to the public February 29.
On the heels of last week's Christmas in July blog post, we decided to follow up on a few of our "reindeer kittens." Born last December, the sweet litter of mostly black cats were very popular in the early months of 2016.
She was left at a city shelter two days before Christmas, a pretty young Bengal mix whose sweet disposition stood in stark contrast to the gravity of her medical condition. Mary was suffering from mastitis and her infection was life-threatening.
Winnie came to Heaven on Earth following a Best Friends-sponsored shelter cats adoption event, The aCATemy Awards, in 2011. At 8 years old, black and in need of dental work, Winnie wiggled her way into the hearts of staff and volunteers.
Mike and Barbara met Heaven on Earth during an adoption event at PetSmart Tujunga. The couple had recently lost their beloved Z-Boy after 17 years. After a few months had passed, they decided it was time to save a life and welcome a young adult cat into their family.
Alexandra came to Perry’s Place knowing she wanted to adopt two young cats, possibly a bonded pair. But she couldn’t bear the thought of leaving one young cat home alone for long stretches of time when she set off to work, so two younger cats seemed to be perfect as they could keep each other company.
Heaven on Earth participated in PetSmart’s recent National Adoption Weekend at all four PetSmart stores where we regularly show – Santa Clarita, Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys and Tujunga. The weekend’s 18 adoptions put smiles on faces from Sunland to Sylmar to Sherman Oaks.
What do a North Hollywood couple, a Sunland family, vacation-bound Van Nuys residents and newlyweds from Valencia have in common? They all came to PetSmart's May National Adoption Weekend and now have new feline family members to love!
