The sixth Heaven on Earth Gala, celebrating The Perry MacFarlane Legacy, was a spectacular success, raising a record $180,000, which represents 30% of our 2016 operating budget. The highlight of the evening was the opportunity to honor 20th Century Fox TV Animation, talented actress and animal activist Amanda Seyfried, and Karma Rescue, recipient of the first Perry’s Passion Award.

Having received a generous and supportive grant from Best Friends Animal Society early this year and rededicated Perry’s Place in April, opening it to potential adopters four days a week, we are saving more lives than ever. Part of our commitment as members of the NKLA Coalition is to pull at least 550 cats this year from the city shelters, a nearly 100% increase over 2015! We are also on pace to facilitate a record 1,000 spays and neuters through our SpayShip trapping and transport program. Overall this year we expect to impact the lives of more than 1,800 cats. Our gala, held at the Garland in North Hollywood, helps make all this possible.

Perry’s Place provides a little bit of heaven on earth for its feline residents. They are all alive and thriving because of the generosity and commitment of the entire Heaven on Earth family. The proceeds of our gala will enable us to continue to provide safe haven for the nearly 800 cats who will reside at Perry’s Place at some time during the year.

This year our pledge auction was specifically designated to help more of our senior and special needs cats receive the care they need and give them the opportunity to find loving homes. Many of these senior and special needs cats came to us with no other options, so we are especially grateful for the generosity of our pledge auction donors.
